The physical act of painting is a journey for me. Places, events and feelings, are all filtered through memory. Colour is always central to this expression and evokes a powerful emotional response.
I paint what I feel, and although I don't want to limit myself to one language, abstraction affords a freedom to fully explore subconscious, emotional and spiritual feeling without having to attach itself to anything specific. The process is one of evolution, as often the true meaning surfaces only when the work is being resolved.
I have a passion for exploring duality within the world of the individual- between physical and spiritual, conscious and unconscious, myth and reality. I draw inspiration from sacred spaces- churches, temples, forests, skies and the oceans, where places become enmeshed with experiences.
